Alex Robertson

Alex has over twelve years’ experience in both the NHS and social care, in transformation and programme lead roles, focusing in particular on health & social care integration at place.

Prior to moving sector, Alex spent fifteen years in a series of senior leadership and consultancy roles with major commercial organisations, as well as with KPMG Consulting.

Alex is passionate about delivering improvements for the population, with a deep interest and specialism in delivering programmes of improvement for those living with frailty.

Delivery Experience

Programme Director, Living Well with Frailty (NHS Warrington CCG & Borough Council)

  • Worked with system leaders across community, primary care, social care, acute and VCSE providers, to design, develop and lead the programme delivery to improve outcomes for those living with frailty

  • Led the design, development and implementation of the Intermediate Care at Home offer

  • Provided system surge capacity modelling and other strategic support during Phases 1 & 2 of the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Designed and co-delivered a seven-module Leadership Programme to 170 of Warrington’s senior and middle leaders

Programme Director, New Models of Homecare (Manchester Health & Care Commissioning)

  • Created a new data-led service model, codesigned with professionals, providers and experts by experience, focused on integrating domiciliary care services as a core part of the community model for patients with moderate and severe frailty

Programme Director, Frailty Virtual Wards & Same Day Emergency Care Redesign (Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust)

  • Led the design and implementation of a new, outcome-focused SDEC model, focused on ambulatory care and acute frailty, striving to support people to return home on the same day

  • Implementation design and leadership of Frailty Virtual Wards

Operating Model Design for Palliative & End of Life Care, St Rocco’s Hospice​

  • Led the design of a new palliative and end of life three-pillar strategy and operating model 

  • Designed the new Board Assurance Framework with the Board of Trustees and Executive Team

Interim Head of Service Recovery (Aviva & Norwich Union Life)

  • As a member of the Customer Services Leadership Team with responsibility for managing 4,500 FTE, led a change management programme with a team of internal project managers

Deputy Head of Customer Services (Aegon Individual Protection)

  • Responsible for the leadership, management and development of a customer service team of 300 FTE, across both contact centre and back office, and for the control of an £8m budget

Executive Consultant (KPMG Consulting)

  • Member of the Financial Sector Customer Management practice, led a range of improvement projects for clients including Scottish Equitable, The Co-Operative Group, GE, AMP and Travelex
